Hong Kong's new 3D light show

Hong Kong Hosts New 3D Light Show –
Hong Kong Pulse Heightens Festive Ambience During Winterfest
And Chinese New Year

December 17 – 29, 2014 and February 14 – March 5, 2015

Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the latest addition to the city's series of events to celebrate the festive season and the 2015 Chinese New Year Festival is the Hong Kong Pulse 3D Light Show. This brand new experience, which features a series of Hong Kong-themed graphics and images, underscores the city's energetic vibe and will add an extra dimension to its famous skyline as the light and music spectacular turns the iconic façades of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and the Clock Tower into colourful canvases.

The creator behind the show is the Sydney-based Spinifex Group and its Executive Creative Director, Richard Lindsay, has over 20 years' experience in the design industry. Lindsay has been involved in numerous international creative media shows, including the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics in 2008, in which he collaborated with famed Chinese film director Zhang Yimou; the 2013 Vivid Sydney; the 2010 Shanghai World Expo; and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Lindsay has described Hong Kong's vibrancy and energy as the inspiration for the show saying that "Hong Kong Pulse is an artistic expression incorporating motion, rhythm, sound, lights and special effects which endeavours to capture the spirit and 'heartbeat' of Hong Kong".

"Hong Kong is a city which embraces modern art, culture and technology and has an energy which is unique and impossible to ignore, these attributes, which can be described as contagious and invigorating, are showcased during Hong Kong Pulse" says Lindsay.

Hong Kong Pulse will be held nightly from December 17 – 29 and February 14 – March 5, 2015 (excluding February 19) with four shows per night at 8.30pm, 9pm, 9.30pm and 10pm, each show lasts about 15 minutes and the best vantage point for visitors to enjoy the show is the Open Piazza at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

To reduce the impact of the show on the environment, the HKTB has appointed a professional consulting company, Carbon Care Asia Limited, to help make the show carbon neutral by measuring, reducing and offsetting the event's carbon emissions. The HKTB will support a renewable energy project to offset the unavoidable carbon emissions associated with the event.
