Accor announces Novotel New Plymouth



New Zealand set to receive its 8th Novotel hotel

New Zealand’s leading hotel operator, Accor, is pleased to announce that a new-build Novotel hotel in New Plymouth will join its network in 2015.

Currently under construction, the new 100-room Novotel New Plymouth is scheduled to open early next year.

The $22 million hotel development, is located in a prime location on the corner of Leach and Hobson Streets, which is just a short walk from the town centre and conveniently accessible to all major tourist attractions.

Novotel New Plymouth will feature a mix of executive and studio rooms, one-bedroom apartments and a penthouse suite, three food and beverage outlets, two meeting rooms, a swimming pool, gymnasium and day spa.

“This is a key development for the Taranaki region, which will positively add to New Zealand’s hotel industry and wider economy,” said Vice President Operations for Accor New Zealand, Fiji and Japan, Garth Simmons.

“The hotel’s opening will stimulate travel to the region from a range of sectors, particularly business and leisure travel. The Novotel brand has been operating in New Zealand for 20 years and is known for its high level of modern, well-designed and efficient 4-star hotels throughout the world.

“We are proud to add our 8th Novotel to our growing network of hotels with the addition of Novotel New Plymouth,” said Garth.

The hotel is being developed by owner, Philip Brown who has appointed Hamilton-based Foster Construction and New Plymouth building firm ICL Construction to carry out the project. Once open, the hotel will boost the local economy and employ around 70 hospitality staff.

Novotel New Plymouth will be the 8th Novotel join the brand with other hotels located in Christchurch, Queenstown, Wellington, Rotorua, Hamilton and two in Auckland, and joins a global Novotel network of nearly 400 hotels in 60 countries.
