Nairobi airport devastated by fire

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, has been closed after a massive fire swept through the terminal buildings.

The country’s main international airport was evacuated, with all flights cancelled.

Officials at the Kenya Airports Authority said the fire had now been contained, with only essential personnel still on the site.

There have been no reports of any casualties and the cause of the fire is not clear.

Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is an important regional hub for East Africa.

It is the main route into Kenya with many long-distance flights landing there to connect to countries across the region.

Multiple reports from sources in Kenya suggest say the arrivals and immigration sections have been devastated by the blaze.

The KAA said only emergency vehicles were allowed in the area.
