Got any family members or friends 'across the ditch' newly engaged and wanting to share the love? Now then can by tying the knot in front of a plane-load of people at 40,000ft! A new campaign launching in New Zealand sees Fiji Airways (formerly Air Pacific) on the lookout for five Kiwi couples from across the country to be married onboard a flight between Auckland and Fiji, next month.

Departing Auckland International Airport on 7 August, the five couples will be married simultaneously on board a wedding-themed Fiji Airways Airbus A330 flight bound for Nadi.

Shannon Currie, Fiji Airways Regional General Manager NZ, says the airline is holding the unique competition with a marriage ceremony to celebrate the launch of Fiji Airways, which rebranded from Air Pacific last month.

"This wedding has been several months in the planning, so it is great to see it finally come together, and we are really looking forward to finding our five couples and to celebrate with them at 40,000ft," said Mr Currie.

"Kiwis have such a strong connection to Fiji with many choosing to be married in Fiji, and many others spending their honeymoon there; and this is why we wanted to do something truly memorable. This also means they can begin their honeymoon the moment they step off the plane."

Couples wanting to apply to be a part of this wedding with a mid-air twist have until Sunday 28 July to visit www.fijiairways.com/wedding submit a photo of themselves, and 150 words stating why they deserve to be part of the Fiji Airways wedding flight.  The five winning couples will be chosen via an online public vote the following week.

Each of the five newly wedded couples will win the mid-flight wedding ceremony, business-class flights on the new Fiji Airways Airbus A330, and two night's luxury accommodation at either the Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa Fiji, or Radisson BLU Resort Fiji Denarau Island, so the couple can enjoy an instant honeymoon in the tropical paradise of Fiji.

Each couple will also win the chance to take two people on the flight to act as witnesses, and be a part of the unique wedding ceremony. Witnesses will be provided with economy-class return airfares, and two night's accommodation.

The winning couples will need to arrive at Auckland International Airport dressed in their wedding attire, with wedding rings and having completed the application process for a New Zealand marriage licence.

The Fiji Airways wedding flight is getting ready to depart, just don't forget the rings....
